Hello! I'm IrisJean

but you can call me I.J.!

idgeleeI’m a self-taught Graphic Designer and Web Developer with over 29 years of experience in Layout Design and a rich background in professional web development and design.

My journey began learning tools like PageMaker 6 and Photoshop 4 at an early age. My dedication led me to land my first paid gig as a freshman at the campus newspaper, Oak Leaves. This experience set the foundation for my role as Art Director at Dive News Network, where I designed five monthly regional Scuba Diving publications and created all sales collateral (including a billboard) for two Dive & Travel Expos.

Driven by my passion for technology and a relentless curiosity, I ventured into web development and design, learning the ins and outs through self-study and hands-on experience (and amazing mentors).

As a Web Developer at Vista Graphics, Inc., I specialize in maintenance and creation of WordPress websites from updating themes and plugins in a sandbox to complete overhauls. I am the trusted mobile-first CSS/html/layout expert. I’ve successfully designed and launched 22 WordPress client websites, including nation-wide franchises and local seasonal small-businesses. I have also executed over 30 corporate site revamps including Coastal Virginia Magazine and Lynchburg Living.

My commitment to continuous growth and self-improvement has led me to earn Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager certifications. I developed an ADA compliance product line, modifying websites and code to meet WCAG 2.1 recommendations.

When I’m not busy refining my web/coding/server skills, I cherish time with my wonderful family playing Baldur’s Gate III, chasing our dog, Guinevere, in the backyard, and immersing myself in my latest obsessions (which is currently ChatGPT and MidJourney).

I’m thrilled to share the insights and experiences I’ve gained as a self-taught Web Developer and Designer, and I look forward to continuing my journey (and sometimes documenting what I’ve learned along the way.)
